Dr. Naveed Sarwar is a highly experienced Consultant Medical Oncologist with over eight years of experience in the field. He specialises in the management of Urological and Breast Cancers, offering expertise in chemotherapy, immunotherapy, endocrine therapy, and targeted therapies. Dr. Sarwar's primary areas of focus within Medical Oncology include Genito-urinary cancers (prostate, kidney, testes, and bladder), Breast cancer, and Gynaecological Malignancies.
Dr. Sarwar is actively involved in clinical trial research related to urological cancer and is a member of the London Kidney Cancer Group, contributing to the development of clinical trials in the London area. He holds a leading role as an oncologist in the treatment of renal and testicular cancer in Essex and has authored publications in various peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, Dr. Sarwar serves as the lead medical oncologist and clinical research lead for gynaecological cancers in Essex. His research interests encompass the molecular mechanisms influencing sensitivity and resistance to endocrine therapy in breast cancer, as well as involvement in clinical trials exploring novel biological agents for breast cancer treatment. Dr. Sarwar specialises in the treatment of breast cancer using a combination of chemotherapy and hormonal therapies.
As a member of the National Testicular Cancer Clinical Study group and Research and Clinical Lead for Urological Cancers at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Dr. Sarwar actively contributes to advancements in oncology. He plays a key role in training junior doctors and serves as a member of the Medical Oncology Specialist Training Committee for the London Deanery.
Dr. Naveed Sarwar completed his medical education at St George's Hospital Medical School in London and pursued his oncology training at several renowned hospitals, including Charing Cross, Hammersmith, Chelsea and Westminster, Mount Vernon, and The Royal Marsden. He conducted research as a Clinical Research Fellow for Cancer Research UK between 2000 and 2004 and obtained his PhD focused on investigating resistance to endocrine therapies in breast cancer at Imperial College London. His extensive contributions to the field of oncology are documented in published research articles and studies.
