Working as part of a team, you’ll ensure we always deliver exceptional care and safety for patients in the theatre unit. As part of that, you’ll make sure there is good communication between doctors, patients, relatives and visitors.
Recovery
You’ll provide high quality clinical care to patients following surgical procedures as well as preparing the recovery area so it’s ready to admit patients after surgical procedures. As well as that, you’ll make sure we work to the best standards.
Working as a theatre practitioner at HCA UK
You’ll be supporting complex procedures for a diverse range of conditions, from cardiac to oncology-related illnesses. It’s a chance to work on the most modern, life-saving treatments – for example, we were first in the UK to use specialist technology to treat previously inoperable tumours.
Working environment
Across the group, we have over 30 highly organised and well-equipped theatres specialising in surgery for adults, children and infants. Our hospitals are consistently the first in the UK to adopt the most advanced surgical technology available.
Our Technology
Our hospitals are consistently the first to adopt cutting-edge technologies. In theatre, these include: the NanoKnife®, a non-invasive alternative to surgery for patients with inoperable or complex tumours; the da Vinci© Surgical System, an advanced robot which mimics the surgeon’s hand and wrist movements; and the MAKOplasty robotic arm for precision orthopaedic procedures.
Working in theatres
At HCA UK, you’ll be empowered to deliver care you can be proud of in an environment that’s been designed with quality front of mind.

To be at your best, you need to have the most up-to-date knowledge. That’s why we’ll continually invest in your training and development.
You’ll be offered the chance to complete funded courses to advance your career alongside our internal training and mentoring. For scrub and recovery practitioners, this includes support towards an anaesthetist’s qualification.
Whatever stage you’re at in your career, you will also benefit from sector-leading training opportunities at our in-house Learning and Simulation centre.
