Types of working patterns

Joining our bank allows you to choose a work pattern and locations that fit with your lifestyle. Essentially, it gives you greater freedom in your working life. You’ll work on an ad-hoc basis, providing expert, temporary support at your chosen facilities.

If you choose to join us on an annualised hours basis, you’ll be a contracted employee of HCA UK with access to our wide-ranging benefits package and training. You’ll also be able to flex your hours to suit you. Your benefits will include:

  • Additional training and career development
  • Annual leave, sick leave and supernumerary shifts
  • A monthly salary
  • Annualised hours – if you work over hours one week (or month), you can work less the following week or month
  • Priority over bank workers and agency for shifts
  • Membership of the HCA UK benefits scheme, including private healthcare.

Most colleagues who join us on a permanent contract work regular hours on a full-time or part-time basis. Whichever option is best for you, we’ll do whatever we can to structure those hours around your other commitments.

Depending on your circumstances, you may prefer to work longer or shorter shifts (which doesn’t necessarily mean working longer or shorter hours overall). Where possible, this is something we’re happy to consider.

If you have school-age children, you may be limited to working during term time. With HCA UK, that needn’t be a problem. In most cases, we’ll be able to adjust your hours so that you can work with us while your children are at school, then take time out to be with them during the holidays.

Whichever option suits you best, at HCA UK we offer excellent opportunities to develop your skills. You’ll be working in some of the most advanced hospitals in the world to a schedule that fits in with your holidays, family or lifestyle.
