About rehabilitation programmes for children
Our rehabilitation programmes treat children of all ages, from babies up to the age of 18, as both inpatients and outpatients.
Each programme is tailored to the needs of the child. We treat many disabilities and neurological conditions, including cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, developmental delay and rehabilitation following complex surgery.
Based at The Portland Hospital, you'll have access to leading consultants, the latest diagnostic technology, a 10-bed Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, and medical and surgical treatments.
Our teams
Our world-class consultants are supported by a multidisciplinary team of nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, neuropsychologists, play therapists, tutors and dietitians to provide a coordinated and holistic programme of care.
Our paediatric expertise
If your child comes to us for rehabilitation our multidisciplinary paediatric team will help them get the best treatment possible
If your child already has a neurological condition such as cerebral palsy or they're suspected of having one, they'll receive world-class care from us. Our consultants work as part of a multidisciplinary team with paediatric neurosurgeons, neuropsychologists, neuroradiologists, specialist nurses and therapists. They collaborate with craniofacial and ENT consultants to make sure your child gets the most thorough treatment.
We work with children from birth to adolescence with a wide range physical and learning difficulties, including developmental delays, neurological conditions and autism spectrum disorders. The purpose of occupational therapy is to help your child achieve their maximum level of independence and quality of life, whatever their condition.
Whether your child has a chronic illness, disability or is recovering from surgery, our dedicated paediatric physiotherapists can help to reduce discomfort and support their recovery. We have the facilities and expertise to look after your child — from head to toe.
Our speech and language therapists assess and treat children with speech and language difficulties, and those with swallowing and feeding problems. Problems with speaking and communicating are the most common developmental delay that children experience. There are a whole range of medical conditions which can result in your child experiencing speech and language problems.
Neuropsychology is a branch of clinical psychology that aims to identify and understand the changes in thinking and behaviour that can result from neurological conditions. Our experienced neuropsychologists provide personalised care to help you and your family or carers to gain awareness of these changes, understand them and find useful ways to manage them.
