Dr. Tacson Fernandez is a highly qualified and experienced Consultant in Interventional Spinal Pain Management, Neuromodulation & Chronic Pain management. He holds various positions such as Lead Clinician for Neuromodulation at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Honorary Associate Professor at University College London, and Committee Member of the UK Neurotechnology Strategy Group, Innovate UK, and Knowledge Transfer Network. He is also a member of the Neurotechnology Special Interest Group, Innovate UK.
Dr. Fernandez's main role is to manage patients with Chronic pain, and he has a particular interest in the management of neuropathic pain states, persistent neuropathic pain, Complex regional pain syndrome, Sympathetically mediated pain, persistent Lower back pain, mechanical axial pain states (neck and back pain), coccydynia, phantom limb pain, and peripheral nerve injury or plexus injury-induced neuropathic pain. He uses a multidimensional, multidisciplinary approach for pain management and has a wide range of pharmacological options to manage nociceptive, neuropathic, and mixed nociceptive-neuropathic pain.
Dr. Fernandez has been an invited speaker on management of Complex Chronic Pain, Neuromodulation, and Cognitive approaches for pain management both nationally and internationally. He is also a regular lecturer on the MSc course for Musculoskeletal biology at UCL and the MSc in Pain at University College London. Additionally, he is on the Faculty as a Lecturer on Neuromodulation at the Royal College of Anesthetists, FFPMRCA exam course.
Dr. Fernandez has published in reputed journals and has authored textbook chapters. He maintains an academic research, innovation, clinical trial, and teaching interest at UCL, London and at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. Overall, Dr. Fernandez is dedicated to advancing pain management techniques and promoting advances in smart and novel technologies through his various roles and activities.
