Dr Carl Shakespeare is a consultant cardiologist at St Thomas' Hospital London and was the Lead Consultant Cardiologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich for 18 years, and a Senior Fellow at the Royal Brompton Hospital London. He also provides consulting services at the Blackheath, Lister and London Independent Hospitals.
Dr Shakespeare received his medical degree from Westminster Medical School, the University of London in 1984, undertaking specialist training at the National Heart Hospital, St Thomas', St George's and the Royal London Hospital, becoming an accredited specialist in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology in 1995.
Dr Shakespeare was awarded a British Heart Foundation Fellowship in 1989, and is the author of over 40 research publications in peer-reviewed academic journals. He has been the Clinical Director of the SE London Cardiac Network, Regional Advisor to the British Cardiac Society and the Royal College of Physicians
