Pacemaker and defibrillator management

MONITORING YOUR IMPLANTABLE CARDIAC DEVICE

At HCA UK we offer routine follow-ups and services to make sure your pacemaker or defibrillator is working effectively

About managing cardiac devices

When you have an implantable cardiac device fitted, it's important that you're monitored regularly by a pacing physiologist. We offer follow-ups six weeks after you first have your device fitted, then every six months after that.

If you have a biventricular (CRT) device, we can carry out biventricular device optimisation to make sure your device is working as efficiently as possible.

During an implantable loop recorder (ILR) follow-up, your physiologist communicates with your device and reviews any episodes that your device has captured. You can also monitor your device at home. To do this, you download data directly from your device and call the clinic to submit it. This technology is compatible with most devices. Using it could mean you don't need to come to the hospital as often and it has the potential to pick up problems sooner.
