Our cardiac team

Meet the cardiac Team at The Harley Street Clinic

World-renowned cardiologists and cardiac surgeons

With our reputation for cardiac excellence, The Harley Street Clinic has been able to attract some of the most eminent cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and radiologists. Many of our consultants are internationally recognised and active researchers in their field, consistently driving forward advances in medicine and surgery.

We make sure that our consultants have access to the latest equipment and cutting-edge technologies, expert clinical support and access to excellent MDTs as they work to get you back to health.

What happens in a cardiac MDT?

Our cardiac Multidisciplinary Team Meetings (MDTs) are regular meetings during which consultants will discuss the treatment plans of their patients with a group of other specialists. While your consultant will continue to lead any decisions about your treatment plan, our cardiac MDTs are unique in the calibre of professionals involved.

This means that when you come to The Harley Street Clinic you don’t just benefit from the expertise of one consultant, but that of a wide range of cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons from across a number of NHS teaching hospitals, as well as other appropriate staff members such as clinical nurse specialists and pharmacists.

Supporting you at every stage

It’s not just our consultants who lead their field – no matter what service or treatment you come in for, staff are trained to the highest standards of cardiac care. For example, unlike some private hospitals, all our echocardiograms (ECGs) are carried out by professionals accredited by the British Society of Echocardiography, because we think this helps us operate at an even higher standard.

Nurses on the ward and within our theatres and cath labs have specialist cardiac training and in many cases, bring decades of experience in complex care. Our nursing team works closely with our consultants at every stage of your journey, building long-lasting relationships that ultimately lead to seamless and efficient care for our patients. We also have a Clinical Nurse Specialist on hand to provide you with tailored guidance and emotional support from the moment you come in and even after you are discharged from our care.

Working on the cardiac unit is so rewarding as we all work closely together as a team. I get to follow many of my patients’ transitions from admission through to discharge which gives me the opportunity to build therapeutic relationships with them
