About urgent care for children
Our centre is open at the following times:
- Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm
- Monday to Friday 5pm - 8pm phone advice service only
- Saturday 8am- 8pm phone advice service only
- Sunday: closed
An initial consultation is £150. Please be aware only one parent/ guardian is permitted to attend per child. No siblings.
Located at 215 Great Portland Street, and part of The Portland Hospital, this is the first private specialist Urgent Care Centre for Children in the UK. At this centre we provide your child with rapid access to our rota of leading paediatricians, urgent care doctors and specialist nurses. On phoning the UCC you will have an initial assessment by one of our doctors to ensure your child is suitable for further treatment. The doctor will also ask you some COVID-19 screening questions.
The Portland is the largest private children’s hospital in the UK, seeing over 40,000 children per year. A very large number of London’s leading paediatric consultants practice at the hospital. And with acute care resident medical officer and paediatric intensive care (PICU) back-up, you can be confident that your child will be in safe hands with us.

- wounds and minor burns
- stings and infected insect bites
- broken bones and sporting injuries
- urinary tract and kidney infections
- stomach and bowel conditions
- ear nose and throat conditions
Please be aware an appointment must be made in advance and a doctor will ask some initial questions including COVID-19 assessment.
What if admission to hospital is needed?
Should your child require treatment from a specialist consultant, we offer a direct, seamless referral to the appropriate on-call consultant at The Portland Hospital. In this instance, it is possible to utilise private medical insurance or to self-pay. Our on-site team will be able to provide you with further assistance regarding payments.
