Uniting across the healthcare sector has never been more important and we are proud to be able to provide support to the NHS.
To help provide much needed capacity, we will be providing care to patients whose care and clinical needs are considered time-critical, we will providing support to the NHS in the following ways.
• Sharing vital resources and expertise: The independent sector will be transferring some equipment such as ventilators to the NHS to support the care of acutely unwell coronavirus patients.
• Diagnostics: We are currently working to establish clinical pathways for diagnostic tests for NHS patients who are expected to need time-critical care.
• Time critical treatment: Delivering urgent, time-dependent treatment and surgery for NHS patients. This includes cancer patients but also many non-cancer specialties where patients will need time-critical care. By treating these patients in the independent sector, this will allow the NHS to focus on acutely unwell coronavirus patients.
• Step down care for NHS patients: Caring for NHS patients that still need hospital care but are well enough to be transferred out of their current facility to allow the NHS to focus on acutely unwell coronavirus patients.
• Step down care for coronavirus patients: We will deliver care and rehabilitation for patients who have contracted coronavirus, have been in NHS intensive care and can now be cared for in non-intensive care in the later stages of their treatment.

Hospital organisation
To most effectively use our resources, time-critical surgery for both NHS and private patients will be undertaken at the following HCA UK hospitals: London Bridge Hospital, The Princess Grace Hospital and The Wellington Hospital.
Step-down medical and post-surgical care for NHS patients will be provided at the above three hospitals and include The Lister Hospital and The Harley Street Clinic.
We are undertaking obstetric cases at The Portland Hospital to support local NHS Trusts and are supporting the NHS with complex cancer care at HCA UK at UCH.
Chemotherapy and radiotherapy are currently being provided for private patients at all HCA UK sites that normally carry out these services.
At The Wilmslow Hospital and at The Christie Private Care we have been providing time critical surgery. We are in ongoing conversation with our partners in Manchester about how we continue to support the needs of the NHS patients there.
