Preparations for the end of the EU transition period

HCA Healthcare UK has robust continuity plans in place to ensure we continue to deliver exceptional care for our patients when the EU transition period ends on 31 December 2020.

Supplies
Our supply chain team and purchasing provider, Health Trust Europe (part of a global procurement entity, Health Trust) have undertaken a review of HCA UK’s procurement partners to ensure we have mitigated the risk of supply delays to deliver continuity of care to our patients. This includes medicines (including radiopharmaceuticals), medical devices and medical products.

Workforce
We recognise and value the enormous contribution of our colleagues who are EU nationals and we want them to continue to work with us. We are continuing to support our workforce who are EU nationals to achieve settled status.

Digital
Our data security function has undertaken extensive mapping of all HCA UK’s data flows to mitigate any unexpected challenges to our digital infrastructure. This includes ensuring that we are compliant with data and security requirements.

Operational continuity
In the unlikely event of any unforeseen circumstances, our clinical services department will lead a coordinated response across our network of hospitals and clinics to ensure patients can continue to receive outstanding care.

National planning
The Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England, national healthcare bodies and the Department for Transport have confirmed that medical supplies will be prioritised through additional shipping channels for the first six months of 2021 and medical products with a short shelf life will be prioritised via sea and air freight.
