Mr. Peter Cooke specializes in diagnostic urology, benign prostate and scrotal surgery, as well as prostate and bladder cancer treatments. He is a distinguished urological surgeon and cancer specialist at the Harborne Hospital, boasting over two decades of expertise. Particularly renowned for his proficiency in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, he serves as the Clinical Lead in Urology for the Black Country and West Birmingham Integrated Care System. Past leadership roles include serving as Clinical Director in Urology and chairing the Trust Senior Medical Staff Committee, along with the West Midlands Cancer Alliance Urology Expert Advisory Group.
With a profound focus on prostate and bladder cancer management, Mr. Cooke is recognized as one of the top 20 prostate cancer surgeons in the UK. His surgical portfolio encompasses over 1500 intricate urological cases, including more than 1000 robotic radical prostatectomies. Pioneering advancements, he initiated the introduction of da Vinci robot-assisted surgery in the Midlands region and spearheaded the adoption of robotic surgery at the Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust in 2010/11.
In 2007, he established Midlands Urology, fostering a thriving and innovative private practice alongside his specialist colleagues. Mr. Cooke's contributions extend beyond the operating room, with numerous publications in esteemed international journals such as The Lancet. He frequently presents his research at national and international gatherings across Europe and the USA.
As a member of prestigious professional bodies including the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland, the British Association of Urological Surgeons, the European Association of Urology, and the American Urological Association, Mr. Cooke continues to shape the landscape of urological care through his expertise and leadership.
