Professor Omer Aziz is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon and Manchester Academic Health Science Centre Honorary Clinical Chair at the University of Manchester. After graduating from St. Mary's Medical School in 2000, he completed specialist colorectal training in the North-West London deanery program and a PhD at Imperial College London in 2008. He has undertaken fellowships at St. Mark's, focusing on laparoscopic colorectal surgery, intestinal failure, inflammatory bowel disease surgery, inherited cancers, polyposis, and recurrent cancer. At the Colorectal & Peritoneal Oncology Centre, he is the Clinical Lead for the peritoneal tumor service. He specializes in complex minimally invasive and open surgical techniques to treat tumors of the appendix, colon, rectum, anus, and peritoneum, performing cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intra-peritoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Professor Aziz has published over 100 peer-reviewed research papers and has obtained numerous research grants. He is also a national trainer in laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
