About
Mr. Kostas Karavidas is a Consultant Maxillofacial/Head and Neck and Oral surgeon at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, where he has worked since the beginning of May 2012. He is also a core member of the Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Team. He performs facial reconstructive surgery for cancer patients and is an expert in minimally invasive treatment of obstructive salivary gland disease.
Mr. Kostas Karavidas specialises in head and neck cancer surgery, facial reconstruction and rehabilitation with microsurgery and free tissue transfer, skin cancer, sialendoscopy and minimal intaroral surgery for obstructive salivary gland disease (stones and strictures), salivary gland surgery, paediatric oral surgery and tongue ties.
He performs regular sialendoscopies, utilising all forms of minimal treatment for the obstructive disease of the salivary glands including laser intraluminal fragmentation of stones, basket retrieval of stones, balloon sialoplasties and the intraoral ductal stretching technique for the deeply seated stones in the hilum of the submandibular gland.
Mr. Karavidas has performed a high volume of free tissue transfer for reconstruction of the facial defects with a variety of flaps. He passionately believes that reconstruction is patient specific and he often include a virtual surgical planning in the surgical treatment of his patients; ensuring that all patients are as knowledgable as possible about their outcomes prior to surgery.
