About
Mr Joseph Aquilina is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. He has a specialist interest in general gynaecology treating women with menstrual disorders, polycystic ovarian syndrome, pelvic pain as well as being highly skilled in foetal and maternal ultrasound. He obtained his primary medical degree in Malta in 1987 and then moved to the UK in 1989 for his basic postgraduate training in Bristol, Taunton and in London at King’s College and Greenwich Hospitals. He is currently appointed as a consultant at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospitals and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London. He provides a specialist service in Fetal Medicine and Gynaecological Ultrasound.
Since his NHS appointment in October 2000 he has set up a Fetal Medicine Service at the Royal London and a one-stop Menstrual Disorder clinic at Barts and the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth with immediate access to Transvaginal USS and Saline Sonography.
He is recognised as a preceptor for training in gynaecological scanning by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and is the Editor for the Women’s Health Section of Current Opinion in Obstetrics and Gynaecology since 2005.
