About
Mr Aziz Gulamhusein is a Consultant Urological and Robotic Surgeon with a specialist interest in complex open and minimally invasive abdominal surgery. His NHS practice is based at the world renowned Christie NHS Foundation Trust where he primarily manages patients with urological cancers, including kidney cancer, testicular cancer, retroperitoneal sarcoma and prostate cancer. He also manages common urological complaints including blood in urine, urinary symptoms, benign prostatic enlargement, raised PSA, penile and scrotal problems.
He completed his undergraduate training at Sheffield Medical School, before pursuing specialist urological training within the Yorkshire region. Prior to his current consultant post he was the first to complete the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons Robotic Kidney Cancer Surgery Fellowship at the Royal Free Hospital in London, the highest volume kidney surgery centre in the UK and Europe with >400 cases a year. He has also undertaken a clinical visit to an ERUS robotic host centre in Aalborg, Denmark supported by the Royal College of Surgeons. Mr Gulamhusein currently hold an honorary consultant contract at The Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where he maintains close links with the testicular/kidney cancer team.
Mr Gulamhusein is active in medical eduction, having been a previous urology module lead at the Sheffield Medical School. His research interests are focused on urological cancers, robotic surgery, novel technology and enhanced recovery after surgery.
