Mr Ioannis Kotsopoulos is a Gynaecological Oncology Surgeon, performing advanced cytoreductive surgery for ovarian cancer, as well as surgery for cervical malignancies (including nerve sparing radical hysterectomy), and surgery for endometrial and vulval cancers and pre-cancers. He performs robotically assisted and laparoscopic operations and he carries out colposcopy procedures.
He studied medicine and trained in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Greece, obtaining a PhD at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He also has an MPhil from Newcastle University. He completed a three-year Clinical and Research fellowship at the Northern Gynaecological Oncology Centre in Gateshead. He undertook his subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology at University College London Hospitals (UCLH). He is one of the few Gynaecological Oncologists trained in Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC).
Mr Kotsopoulos is an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London (UCL). His research interests are in gynaecological malignancies. He has authored and co-authored over 30 papers published in international peer[1]reviewed journals. He is a member of the British Gynaecological Cancer Society (BGCS), the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP), and the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO).
