The London Hip Unit is recognised worldwide as a leading clinic for the treatment of hip problems. Established in 2002 by renowned specialist consultant Miss Sarah Muirhead-Allwood, The London Hip Unit provides a fully supported service, offering the best possible treatment and life-long follow up for all common and complex hip conditions.

Our philosophy

Our approach to patient care is on an individual basis and our teams provide tailored care for each individual, ‘one size, does not fit all’. Our consultants discuss all viable options for the treatment of hip problems, including selecting the prosthesis (artificial joints) so suit each patient to meet their needs and levels of activity.

For over 25 years our team of dedicated clinical nurse specialists, doctors, anaesthetists, office personnel and our highly experienced consultants have been on hand to assess, advise and help patients through their treatment programme.

Supported by The Princess Grace Hospital’s surgical theatres and teams, patients receive the very best in clinical care from advice and help prior to surgery, to round-the-clock monitoring following surgery, and an enhanced recovery programme with our specialist physiotherapy teams.

The London Hip Unit is situated at the heart of London, in the Outpatients and Diagnostic Centre on Devonshire Street, with easy access to a range of state-of-the-art diagnostic machines including X-ray, MRI, CT and Ultrasound.
