Mr James Colville is a Consultant Aesthetic, Hand and Reconstructive Surgeon, based at St George’s Hospital NHS Trust and he also sees patients privately at a range of locations, including The Lister Hospital. His specialist interests include reconstruction after skin cancer treatment, especially after MOHs surgery, all forms of elective adult hand surgery and hand trauma, particularly fracture fixation and soft tissue reconstruction and cosmetic surgery to the breast and abdomen and liposuction.
Mr Colville trained at UCL, graduating in 1992, having previously been awarded a BSc at Bristol University and an MSc at King’s College London, in Biochemistry. He undertook medical posts in Orthopaedics and Plastic Surgery at The Norfolk and Norwich Hospitals. This was followed by training at East Grinstead and further specialist training in Newcastle and Louisville, Kentucky in the US, a renowned hand centre.
He was appointed as a Consultant at St George’s Hospital in 2005 as a plastic surgeon with a sub-specialisation in adult elective and trauma surgery. He has been Lead Consultant for department’s teaching programme and is now Lead Consultant in the Hand Department. Dr Colville is an examiner for the final plastic surgery examination and a faculty member for the national instructional hand course, He also holds an NHS post at St Helier Hospital, where he specialises in skin cancer reconstructions and runs a general plastic surgery clinic.
