Dr Taher Mahmud serves as the Clinical Lead for Osteoporosis and is a Consultant Rheumatologist, as well as the Co-Founder of the London Osteoporosis Clinic. His educational journey includes studies at King's College London, followed by training in General Medicine at King's College, St Thomas', and Pembury Hospitals. Additionally, Dr. Mahmud held the position of Honorary Consultant at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath.

Dr. Mahmud draws personal inspiration from his mother's experience with osteoporosis, recognising the profound impact it can have on an individual's life. This awareness fuels his commitment to a passionate and holistic approach to patient care. Collaborating with professionals from diverse medical and non-medical backgrounds, he has actively supported and launched campaigns aimed at raising awareness about the hidden influence and dangers of osteoporosis.

His medical interests encompass osteoporosis treatments, patient feedback, and the mechanisms of drug side effects. In pursuit of addressing these concerns, Dr. Mahmud, alongside esteemed colleagues Professor Sir Graeme Catto, Professor Hughes, and others, founded The London Osteoporosis Clinic. Pioneering as the first clinic dedicated entirely to early and post-fracture screening, diagnosis, and treatment of osteoporosis, the clinic utilises the latest NICE-approved drugs and complementary non-drug treatments.

The overarching goal of the London Osteoporosis Clinic is to collaborate with patients, healthcare communities, voluntary sectors, and businesses to eliminate osteoporosis-related fractures. On a personal level, Dr. Mahmud has interests in the arts and enjoys sports, particularly tennis and running. He has previously served as a Trustee for Great Causes, a charity focused on raising funds for cataract operations in the developing world.
