Professor Stuart Bloom is a consultant gastroenterologist at University College London with his private practices operating at HCA Healthcare UK's, The Wellington Hospital and the Physicians' Clinic. Prof Bloom's special interests lie in general gastroenterology, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, IBS, diverticular disease, food intolerance, coeliac disease and gastro-oesophageal reflux. He set up the Bowel cancer screening programme at UCLH and is an accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist.

He has been a consultant since 1996 and has been chair of the IBD section of the British Society of Gastroenterology. He is medical director for the UK Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Registry.

Prof Bloom has been researching the cause of Colitis and Crohn's disease and together with Professor Tony Segal at the Raine Institute, he has published a recent paper on the latest findings on the causes of the illness.
