A sensation of numbness or tingling may point towards tendonitis, a repetitive strain injury or carpal tunnel syndrome. You could also have tenderness, swelling and restricted movement from strains or sprains. However, it's important that you speak to a GP or consultant, so that they can discuss your symptoms, your usual routines and treatment options with you.
After talking about your wrist pain, when it started and how severe it is, your consultant will carry out a physical examination then let you know what the next steps are.
It is most likely this will involve one or more screening techniques such as an X-ray or MRI scan. Certain possible causes of wrist pain may require further assessments. Your consultant can discuss these with you at the time.
