Dr Alison Jones

Dr Jones provides medical advisory services for HCA, including at The Wellington Hospital. In her role at the Wellington Hospital, she advises HCA to ensure that the care provided within the Oncology Service at the hospital is appropriate and efficient and provides professional advice to HCA on clinical governance matters regarding the Oncology provision. Dr Jones advises on high standards for medical practice and medical performance, including management of clinical incidents and clinical complaints. She contributes to the review of treatment outcomes by Consultants. She participates in direct patient seminars.

 

Together with Dr Katharine Pigott, Dr Jones also provides medical advisory services for HCA's The Harley Street Clinic. In their role, they lead interactions with hospital medical staff and the hospital leadership team to assist the hospital by providing medical advice and promote high quality, cost effective care.

 

In both roles, Dr Jones contributes to the strategy, policies and decision making regarding breast care and advises HCA to ensure that care provided within our facilities is appropriate and efficient. She advises on initiatives to drive clinical standards by providing professional advice on clinical governance matters and ensuring the adoption of those by colleagues in breast care.

 

In addition, she works with medical insurance companies, GPs, other relevant local NHS contacts, and patients to educate and advise on relevant clinical updates to treatments available in the facility.

 

Dr Jones advises on the accuracy of literature that may be published regarding relevant services. She also advises on how to make the patient referral smooth to reduce stress and anxiety for patients.

 

All services provided under this agreement are charged to HCA UK. In 2019, the total paid to Dr Jones in relation to her medical advisory work for the Harley Street Clinic was £30,251. In 2020 (until 30 September) the total paid for these services for The Harley Street Clinic was £9,676. In respect of her medical advisory work for The Wellington Hospital, the total paid for these services in 2019 was £8,424. In 2020 (until 30 September) the total paid for these services was £144.

 

HCA requires the doctors that advise us to attest that if they also practice in the NHS that they are not compromising their NHS commitments.
