Domiciliary multi-channel sleep study
Monitoring your sleep
If you're experiencing breathing pauses while you sleep, you may have obstructive sleep apnoea (OSAS).
At HCA Healthcare UK, we can fit you with a wearable multi-channel sleep study monitor, which you can wear overnight at home. This will let us assess your breathing at night and make a diagnosis.
A domiciliary multi-channel sleep study device is a wearable monitor used to assess your breathing as you sleep at home. It consists of belts to put around your chest and abdomen, a finger probe, a leg probe and an airway/snoring sensor.
Your sleep or respiratory consultant will help you put the device on, before showing you how to use and care. They'll most likely ask you to wear it overnight at home and return the next day so they can assess your breathing patterns.
There isn't any special preparation required for an domiciliary multi-channel sleep study. Your respiratory or sleep constant will explain how it works and answer any questions you might have.
