What is it a FFRCT HeartFlow test?
FFRCT HeartFlow is a revolutionary test that creates personalised 3D models of your heart arteries and then applies complex mathematical equations. This allows the measurement of pressure and flow within the coronary arteries to determine whether any blockages are limiting the blood supply to your heart muscle and if they require treatment.
Need to know
If you are experiencing symptoms suggestive of coronary disease (blockages within your heart arteries) you will be referred for a standard coronary CT scan. This provides detailed pictures of your heart arteries. If these CT images show disease, your CT scan will then be sent anonymized and via a secure, encrypted portal to HeartFlow to perform the analysis. A trained specialist will apply advanced mathematical equations to your coronary CT scan, in order to determine whether any blockages are limiting the blood supply to your heart and require treatment as a result. Your consultant will receive a digital, 3D colour-coded model of your blood flow. They will then discuss and formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan with you.
As the analysis is carried out based on your initial coronary CT scan, no additional preparation is required.
There is no recovery time or side effects associated with this test. You'll be able to return home shortly after the scan. You'll need to have a follow-up appointment to discuss your results and possible treatment plan.
