About the London Bridge Sleep Centre

The London Bridge Sleep Centre at London Bridge Hospital specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.

Our leading specialists provide rapid assessment and intervention in a world-class environment and deliver privacy, dignity and respect to every patient experiencing a sleep disorder.

Sleep disorders can be grouped according to behaviours, problems with natural sleep-wake cycles, breathing problems, difficulty getting to sleep or how tired you feel during the day. Patients may present with a number of symptoms including dry throat, excessive fatigue or sleepiness, snoring, insomnia, inability to wake or any nocturnal parasomnias.

Our internationally renowned neurologists and sleep physiologists are experienced in diagnosing and treating all sleep disorders including:

  • Sleep breathing disorders including sleep apnoea
  • Snoring
  • Parasomnias
  • Period limb movement disorder (PLMD)
  • Nocturnal epilepsy or seizure
  • Insomnia
  • Narcolepsy
  • Restless legs syndrome (RLS)
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

We’ve grown into a culture of filling all the hours of the day with activities, with sleep being the first thing to get sacrificed when we’re short on time. Our work lives are getting more stressful - with longer hours - which fuels anxiety disorders and can ultimately keep people awake at night.

The conditions we treat

As part of London Bridge Hospital, our Sleep Centre benefits from the expertise of a multidisciplinary team from a range of medical specialties. From your first consultation, we'll work together to provide fast diagnosis and a tailored treatment plan to help manage your condition.

At HCA UK, our team of experts specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of a range of sleep disorders. These include insomnia, sleep apnoea, restless legs syndrome (RLS) and narcolepsy.
mnia Insomnia is the most common sleep complaint is the UK, it is a condition where you have difficulty in getting to sleep, or getting enough sleep to function well. It affects up to one in three people in the UK at some point in their lives. Hypersomnia is excessive sleepiness and difficulty staying awake during the day. If you experience unusual behaviour during sleep it is known as parasomnia.
There are two distinct types of sleep apnoea, Central Sleep Apnoea (CSA) and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA). The difference between the two, is that CSA is caused by the brain not sending proper signals to the muscles that control your breathing during sleep whereas OSA is caused by the upper airways being obstructed. Obstructive sleep apnea is more common than central sleep apnea.
Restless legs syndrome is a disorder that causes an overwhelming and often unpleasant urge to move your legs (or arms). The urge to move often occurs in the evening when you’re resting or lying down and is usually due to uncomfortable, tingly, aching, or creeping sensations. Movement such as walking or stretching will often relieve these feelings.
At HCA UK, our team of experts specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of a range of sleep disorders including narcolepsy (a rare long-term brain disorder that results in a person falling asleep suddenly without warning during the day).
