Mr Vivek Datta is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon based at Guy's and St. Thomas's Foundation Trust. He qualified from the University of London in 1993, before undertaking specialist surgical training. He completed a Fellowship at St Marks University College Hospital, London and a research MD at the Imperial College.

Mr Datta Vivek sees patients with a range of colorectal pathologies. He is particularly interested in rectal bleeding and pain, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, intestinal failure and hernia and emergency general surgery. Mr Vivek also specialises in bowel cancer diagnosis and treatment, colorectal surgery and laparoscopic surgery.

He has a keen interest in research and education, and has co-authored numerous publications in his area of expertise. He is regularly invited to speak at national conferences and lectures, and is on the steering group for the National Training Programme in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery.
