Dr. George Asimakopoulos graduated in medicine from the University of Hamburg, Germany, in 1992. From 1999 to 2006, he underwent training on the West London rotation in cardiothoracic surgery, followed by a one-year fellowship in heart and lung transplantation at Harefield Hospital.
Afterward, Dr. Asimakopoulos served as a consultant cardiac surgeon at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust for seven years. During his tenure at Bristol, he established himself as one of the busiest cardiac surgeons in the UK, with a remarkable record of performing over 230 cardiac surgery operations annually.
In February 2014, Dr. Asimakopoulos joined Royal Brompton Hospital as an aortic surgeon, specializing in complex issues concerning the aortic valve, aortic root, ascending aorta, and arch. He possesses extensive expertise in treating endocarditis and conducting surgeries on patients who have previously undergone cardiac procedures.
