Smruta Shanbhag is a fully accredited and registered surgeon specializing in Gynaecology and Gyn Oncology. She graduated from Goa University in 1995 and pursued post-graduate studies in Gynaecology, during which she focused on Ultrasound studies of pelvic masses for her thesis. Her training journey took her to Aberdeen, Scotland, where she honed her skills in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She completed her training at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, obtaining certifications in Gynaecology and sub-specialist training in Gynaecological Oncology.

Known also as Ruth, Smruta has served as a Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncologist in Glasgow for nine years before relocating to the West Midlands. Currently, she holds positions as a Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncology Surgeon at HCA Harborne in Birmingham. She stands as the sole consultant offering gynaecological oncology services in the private sector within Coventry and Warwickshire.

Her professional interests are broad, including laparoscopic and robotic surgeries, and she actively participates in GMC and Royal College exams, alongside teaching and examinations at Warwick Medical School. With numerous publications in gynaecological oncology, she is deeply committed to advancing the field.
