Dr. Mahendra pursued her medical studies at the University of Glasgow and earned her qualification in 1985. Her specialization in haematology evolved through training at esteemed institutions such as the Royal Marsden, Hammersmith, and Addenbrookes hospitals. Since 1997, she has served as a consultant haemato-oncologist, specializing in stem cell transplantation. Dr. Mahendra's expertise lies in blood cancers (leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma), stem cell transplantation, and CAR-T therapy. Her commitment to providing the highest quality of care is evident in her emphasis on communication, kindness, and timeliness.

Actively engaged in teaching, Dr. Mahendra has mentored numerous doctors, many of whom have become consultant haematologists in the UK and beyond. She plays an active role in research related to blood cancers and stem cell transplantation, contributing to over 90 publications.
