Dr Alexandrou is a London-based Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist, with nearly 30 years’ career dedicated in children’s health and well-being. He has particular experience and expertise in all problems of the newborn and the first years of life. He specialises in a wide range of conditions including: jaundice, unsettled babies, feeding and growth problems, gastro-oesophageal reflux, chronic cough and wheeze/asthma, fever/infections, diarrhoea and vomiting, constipation, skin conditions such as cradle cap, nappy rash, eczema, urticaria. Additionally, he offers baby checks and developmental assessments, advice on weaning to solids and food diversification, advice on immunisation and prenatal consultations to prospective parents.
Dr Alexandrou is a Consultant Paediatrician and the Named Doctor for safeguarding children at Moorfields Children's Hospital NHS Trust. There he manages children with complex problems, often in close collaboration with specialist colleagues and teams from other tertiary paediatric centres, such as Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Evelina Children’s Hospital, London.
Dr Alexandrou graduated from Athens University Medical School and he undertook his entire paediatric specialist training in the UK. He had further subspecialty training in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the University of Western Ontario in Canada.
He held academic appointments as Clinical Lecturer in Child Health at St George’s Medical School in London, where he lectured Paediatrics, and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Imperial College School of Medicine. He completed his research on lung development and he was awarded the Degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) from London University.
Due to the extraordinary circumstances of the COVID19 pandemic, Dr Alexandrou now offers remote telephone/video consultations. Almost all insurance companies have agreed to cover remote consultations after prior authorization.
